Abstract

The review discusses the first part of the memoirs of the famous interwar Lithuanian lawyer, politician, public and cultural figure, Zigmas Toliušis (1889-1971) “Atsiminimai ir apybraižos. Gyvenimo kelio pradžia (1889-1921)” [“Memoirs and Outlines. The Beginning of Life’s Journey (1889-1921)”], expertly prepared by the researchers of the National Library of Lithuania, Irmina Abramovienė and Tomasz Błaszczak. The book presents Toliušis’s recollections about his childhood and youth in Lithuania, his studies in St. Petersburg and his career and various challenges in Ukraine. “Memoirs and Outlines” is an informative historical source that provides many important details about the social, political, and cultural history of the Lithuanian national revival and the sunset of the Russian Empire.
