The monograph by cultural historian Rasa Čepaitienė, “Post-Soviet Transit: From the Collapse of the Soviet Union to the War in Ukraine: Memory, Heritage, and Identity in the Former USSR” (Kaunas: Obuolys, 2022), stands out in Lithuanian historiography for its multicultural (the research covers the states created on the territory of the former USSR), interdisciplinary (the research uses various theories and approaches employed by the humanities and social sciences) and blending character (the book presents a certain image of the post-Soviet transformation in the former USSR states). The author focuses on the various institutions, instruments, strategies and personalities involved in shaping the memory of the Soviet era in the societies living in the territory of the former USSR. It is a thought-provoking work that calls for further exploration, questioning and searching for answers.
